When you switch to electronic cigarettes, you expect a number of changes. You know that your house, car, hair and clothes won’t smell so unpleasant anymore and that you won’t have to deal with ashes and tar dirtying and staining your things. What a lot of new vapers don’t realize, though, nicotine concentration of e-cigarette packages or e-liquids. Many new vapers are bewildered about choosing the nicotine strength.
Often e-smoking beginners wonder how many cigarettes correspond to one bottle of e-liquid or the other way around – how much e-liquid corresponds to one packet of cigarettes. It’s difficult to find a simple answer to this question without searching online for vaping forums or Ecig Reviews site. Actually, it all depends on many factors. After all, everyone has different smoking habits. Smoking habits are often tied to certain activities, places, or people; such as having a cigarette with your morning coffee, during a break at work, or after a meal. For some people one packet is enough for 3-days, some others need 3-packets daily.
Managing e-cigs, taste bud changes and common nicotine understanding
Anecdotally, most smokers will tell you that they feel like their senses of taste and smell are affected by smoking. If you are one of these smokers, then you may well notice those senses becoming stronger when you switch to e-cigarettes. That’s not exactly the whole story, though. In fact, your taste buds may go through a cycle of change as your body gets used to vapor instead of smoke.
Not only is the selection of favorite tastes important, but also the strength of the e-liquid. Longtime habitual smokers will need an e-liquid with high nicotine concentration. You need to observe your reactions and the way you e-smoke.
If you cannot tear yourself from the mouthpiece and e-smoke constantly, obviously you need to increase the strength of e-liquid (e.g. from 6 up to 12 mg/ml). It is very important to choose a proper “initial strength” that is just strong enough to provide your body with the right amount of nicotine that your body needs. After a while, for example, 3-4 weeks, you might try to reduce the strength. For example, if you were using 18 mg/ml, perhaps 12 mg/ml might be enough. You can also make an intermediate concentration mixing both e-liquids a half, to get the strength of 15 mg/ml. Usually, it is sufficient. And so you can gradually decrease the strength to really small values.
After some time it pays to try to decrease the strength of the inhaled e-liquid. This is important because nicotine is not friendly to your body. It makes no sense to do it right after the transition from traditional cigarettes to e-cigarettes. First, our body needs to get used to this new way of e-smoking. However, in my opinion, you might think of doing it after quitting traditional smoking for good. Hardly anyone is able to set aside e.g. e-liquid of concentration 18 mg/ml and start using e-liquid of concentration 6 mg/ml. Most often in such situations, your body will lack nicotine.
Therefore we suggest a different method. First of all, you have to answer a basic question – when do I need nicotine the most? Each of us is different. Some people need this “kick” in the morning, others after a meal or over a cup of coffee.
Usually, 2-3 puffs of strong e-liquid are enough to appease typical nicotine withdrawal. And then you can easily use e-liquid of a lower concentration.
To avoid changing e-liquid in cartomizer every now and then you might want to have just two devices. Each with a different e-liquid concentration. You can mark each of them so that you will not have to worry where the e-liquid is that you want to use. If during the day you feel that you need more nicotine change the cartomizer and inhale one or two more times. A little willpower doesn’t hurt.
There is also a trick which allows you to cheat your body a little. If you like e-liquids with a hint of mint, you can add a little mint flavoring to the liquid. This trick reduces the strength of the e-liquid but keeps the same “kick”.
